Ebook About At 19, Beck Barretti is living two lives. To his family, he’s a young man trying to find his way after years of battling a mental illness that nearly cost him everything. But to the rest of the world he’s just another privileged kid with problems. The truth doesn’t even lie somewhere in between because Beck’s entire life is actually about keeping secrets. From the people he loves. From the ones he doesn’t.From himself.Spending a summer in Dare, Montana with family friends isn’t about starting fresh – it’s about escaping the crippling darkness that threatens to consume him.Until one encounter that was supposed to mean nothing ends up changing everything…Quinn Donovan had the life he’d always dreamed of until a brutal act of violence ripped it all away. Even though he’s found a new future working at the CB Bar Ranch in Dare, Montana, he’s not interested in trying to get back what he once had. All he wants is a quiet life that includes a job that’s worth getting up for each morning and hanging out with his best friend, a black and white Paint stallion named Koda. But nothing prepares him for the strange twist of fate that brings not one, but two men into his life…Brody Wilder is done hiding in the closet. As the son of a political scion, he’s spent his entire life hiding the truth about who he is just so he could inherit a legacy he never wanted. But those days are behind him and he’s starting a new life in rural Montana where he’s saving lives as a paramedic and building a successful construction business that would surely horrify his old-money, society-loving family. After years of denying himself, he’s taking advantage of his newfound freedom by indulging in random, meaningless sexual encounters that are about pleasure, not emotion. So no one is more surprised than him when one night in the back room of a sordid gay club leads to something more…Can three men who came together by chance find the hope they need to build a future with each other, or will they end up letting their fears tear them apart?Trigger Warning: This book contains multiple triggers. To review what they are, please take a look at the sample or use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll to the specified page. Reviewing the triggers may cause spoilers. Can be read as a stand-alone story - no cliffhangers. This series crosses over with some of my other series, so for the most enjoyment, they should be read in order, but it is not required. You can find the correct reading order at the beginning of each book. I've also bundled all my series in the correct reading order under the title of A Family Chosen: The Protectors and Barrettis.Book Finding Hope (Finding Series, Book 5) Review :
Beck, Cade and Rafe's adopted son, has made his was to Dare, Montana to try to restart his life after a terrible trauma. Jax and Dane, from Finding Trust have found him work at the CB Bar ranch, featured in Finding Home. Beck has an encounter with Quinn and Brody the night before he starts work and finds out that he'll be working around both men. Quinn and Brody hadn't met before that night either, so the story revolves around the development of a relationship on relatively equal footing.Beck has big mental and emotional problems though and much of the book is centered around those issues. I spent a great deal of time quite puzzled by how Beck's parents wouldn't have helped deal with his issues long before. Especially Rafe with his history. It does all get explained eventually but it wasn't until later in the story. It bothered me so much that it kept me from enjoying the first part more. I was also uncomfortable that Beck was only 19. I understand it's fiction but that's way too young for me to not feel a little icky about sex scenes or believe they can sustain these complex relationships. Or maybe I'm just too old.I appreciated that it took time for the three of them to actually get involved. It did make it more believable and I was also glad to see therapy included. I still think things turned around a little too quickly. A new character is introduced that I'm sure will be in a coming book and likely connecting the three series again. I'm a bit addicted to these series but I can rely on a fairly exciting storyline and a good amount of smexy. I love Sloane Kennedy. She's one of the best authors in this genre I've ever read. I read Absolution first and was hooked. I get emotionally involved, and often am brought to tears, in every one of her books. This book was no exception, she has such a way of drawing you in and making you a part of the story and her characters are always so rich and real and fully formed. That said, the Finding Series became sort of relief for me. Meaning, that the first four stories were not wrenchingly painful like the Protectors and Barretti Security books. I could take a breather of sorts before jumping back into the other extremely painful stories. But that didn't happen with this book, it was too much like one of the Protector stories and I had trouble finishing it. I guess it's a testament to Ms Kennedy's writing (and she is good!!) that I get too involved, but I need a break. And, before some of you say, it's only a story, that's not true. I worked for a police agency for ten years and know what humans do to each other. The characters' backgrounds are too true and happen all the time. I know I sound like a wuss, and I definitely will not stop reading the author's books, but it would be nice if she'd lighten up once in a while.
